Exploring the Web in 1993
In 1993, the Web was still relatively new before irony became popular. Every time I got online, I would visit Netscape's What's Cool, which boasted that it was the best way to find cool new web pages worldwide. At the time, it was possible to list every website. People could use webcams to spy on coffee machines on other continents or click a Big Red Button That Does Nothing. There were no platforms, feeds, social networks, or blogs. Webpages had grey backgrounds, and the font was Times New Roman. The links were medium blue. There was no parallax scrolling, but horizontal rule GIFs were popular. It was easy to create a new web page with a few tags. There were no databases to configure, scripts to install, plugins, or security patches. There were no cookies, iframes, web-first scripting languages, or web apps. The navigation and Table of Contents were created by hand, and the "NEW!" graphic was used to indicate updated pages. Links that were not new would turn purple when clicked. Justin's Links became the first daily web diary.T

Docker Desktop 4.16 New Features
Docker introduced Docker Extensions in May 2022 to connect the Docker toolchain to application development and deployment workflows. The Extensions feature allows users to augment Docker Desktop with debugging, testing, security, networking, and many other functionalities and build custom add-ons using the Extensions SDK. With Docker Desktop 4.16, Docker Extensions and the Docker Extensions SDK are now generally available on all platforms. The Extensions Marketplace has grown from 15 initial extensions to over 30, and more are on the way. As part of Docker Desktop 4.16, performance improvements have been made that allow image vulnerability analysis to be done up to 4x faster and use up to 76% less memory. To perform an analysis, users can select an image in the Images tab, and the study will be automatically kicked off. Docker Desktop 4.15 launched a quick experimental search that brings the Hub experience into the local workflow and is now generally available. It allows users to find, pull, and run public or private remote images on Hub. Docker Desktop 4.16 also includes features that will enable users to quickly find containers or compose apps on the local system and get a quick overview of the environment variables.T

Tesla Price Cut Angers Customers
Investors were anxious about Tesla's future, which needed to be improved by the company's announcement of price cuts of up to 20% on Thursday. This not only angered customers who had already purchased cars at higher prices, but it has caused people who follow Tesla to worry about the company's future and the choices of the CEO, Elon Musk. Earlier in the month, Tesla had already offered discounts to US consumers, but their deliveries still needed to meet Wall Street's expectations. Brianna Wu, a software engineer and former congressional candidate shared her views about the price cuts in a Twitter thread. She previously had an argument with Musk on Twitter, as she dared him to post a poll asking if he should resign as CEO of Twitter. After he did so and the majority voted for him to resign, he promised to leave his position when someone "foolish enough" agreed to take it. Wu also tweeted about Musk's great losses in wealth this year, and he jokingly replied that she was paying him 8 dollars due to her subscription to Twitter Blue. On her Twitter thread, Wu explained that the price cuts would negatively impact the company, as it would lower their profit margins and revenues. Additionally, Tesla does not have any new cars in the pipeline, and it would cost them a lot of money to introduce new models, meaning they may not be able to increase prices in the future. This news has been difficult for Tesla owners who want to sell their cars.G

ChatGPT-Written Malware
ChatGPT-written malware was seen in the wild shortly after the AI chatbot's launch. Participants in cybercrime forums with little or no coding experience were using it to write software and emails for malicious purposes. Cybercriminal communities have shown interest in this new trend and are using the AI chatbot to generate malicious code. A forum participant posted code that combined cryptographic functions, such as code signing, encryption, and decryption. The code used various algorithms for different tasks, including elliptic curve cryptography, the Blofish and Twofish algorithms, RSA keys, and digital signatures. ChatGPT-generated code is limited, but it has opened up new capabilities for less skilled hackers.
