Apple Replacing Qualcomm Chips
Apple has been working on in-house modem chip technology for several years to reduce its reliance on Qualcomm. It initially wanted to introduce its modem chips as early as 2023, but an Apple analyst said that development would only be done after a while. According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple will start replacing Qualcomm modem chips as soon as 2024. This transition from Qualcomm could take up to three years, and Apple will use a slow rollout by beginning with a single device. In addition to transitioning to its in-house chips starting in 2024, Apple wants to stop using wireless components from Broadcom in 2025. Apple had signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Broadcom for wireless components and modules and is now working on a WiFi and Bluetooth chip that would replace these components. Apple designs its own A-series and M-series chips for the iPhone and Mac. Apple is also working on a chip that will combine cellular modem, WiFi, and Bluetooth functions into a single component. Replacing modem chips and wireless components have been a priority since its dispute with Qualcomm.T

Multiplayer SaaS Rising
Over the last decade, SaaS has become a highly attractive investment opportunity for venture capitalists, with its market value increasing drastically from an estimated $30.4 billion in 2013 to nearly $146.6 billion in 2020 and is expected to reach $168.6 billion by 2025. This is due to the recurring revenue model that SaaS offers, which is more secure than ad revenue in uncertain economic times. An example of a successful multiplayer SaaS company is Figma, which was recently acquired by Adobe for the second-largest amount in history, at $1.8 billion, for a private tech startup. The collaborative nature of Figma was a major factor in its success. However, previously, B2B SaaS products were slow, painful, and complicated and often came in CD-ROMs or floppy disks, requiring customized rollouts. Now, the market value of B2B SaaS is over $100 billion.S

Apple Leaves Broadcom
Apple is reportedly developing its in-house chip to power cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth functionality on its devices, to replace its current Broadcom Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip by 2025. Furthermore, Apple is developing its cellular modems, which they hope to use by the end of 2024 or early 2025 and would replace Qualcomm's modems. Qualcomm believes they will have the "vast majority" of 5G modems for 2023 iPhones and that Apple's contribution will be minimal in 2025. It is still being determined when Apple's combined cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth chip will be included in an iPhone. Apple and Broadcom did not comment when asked.T
